To the Weathersfield School Students, Parents and Community Members,

It is with tremendous sadness that we must relay the news of Principal Mario Bevacqua's passing late last evening  Saturday,  June 5^th.

As many of you know, Mario has battled a number of health challenges over the last 18 months. The love of his family and friends and his passion for the children and staff of Weathersfield were most assuredly the motivation and encouragement that supported him through each difficult day of his failing health.

To celebrate his life a memorial service is being planned by his family which is scheduled for Saturday, June 12^th at 2pm at the Weathersfield School Gymnasium. Calling Hours will be on Friday, June 11th at Davis Memorial Chapel on Summer Street, Springfield, Vermont from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm.

We ask you to access the Weathersfield website for more concrete information regarding the service. During the coming days, please know that Weathersfield School will have additional counselors available if needed to assist staff and students during the grieving process.

It is so very important for all of us to keep alive Mario's spirit and "quiet passion" for educating our children over the last 20 years. He truly believed in the potential of each and every student to succeed. To honor his memory the Weathersfield School Board has established a Mario Bevacqua Memorial Scholarship Fund for a graduating Weathersfield senior. Additional information on this scholarship will be posted in the near future on the school's website at  www.weathersfieldschools.org
